5 out of 5 stars A great sub at a great price...   July 14, 2010

I researched a number of subs for use with my recent home theater project. I almost went with the Energy 8" sub that was recommended for use with my Energy speakers, but my living room is about 15' x 18', and I was concerned that it wouldn't have enough punch to fill the room, without cranking it up too high. I'd rather run a sub with plenty of power at lower volumes than try to stretch a lower powered sub to its limits or run one too loud. I like bass, but I want it to add to the experience only when needed...not overpower or distort. I decided that a 10" sub would be the best for my application, so after reading all I could find on the V1020, I decided to buy it. I have not been disappointed! I have this sub sitting on an Auralex SubDude, and it puts out as much bass as necessary in clean, tight amounts without distortion or any hint of being overdriven. And, this happens with the volume setting at "5"...a long way from max. I had absolutely INCREDIBLE bass during my recent viewing of the AVATAR Blu Ray DVD, but only where it was supposed to be. I also personally like the silver black appearance of the cabinet, and the build quality is excellent. It's certainly as good or better than any other sub I've inspected for less than $300. This is a standout product from BIC, and I give it my complete recommendation.

I needed a sub to go with my Onkyo 607 and Klipsch speakers and this sub got some killer reviews and the brand name was highly spoken of in av forums. Its one of those brands that are not mainstream everyone has heard of, but people who KNOW about A/V stuff are familiar with. This sub is great hook up was E-z (of course) doesnt look too bad and it fills my 13 x 19 room plus quite nicely. It blends very well with the adjustable cross over knob and I am very happy with the purchase I made. yes there are nicer subs out there, however for the price this one is the best.

Very nice! A little on the big side as far as size goes but excellent sound.
Mine is hooked up to a 110 watt per channel Yamaha surround sound receiver
and provides just the right amount of bass, not too much boom, unless you want it.
You could use it in an apartment with no complaints( unless you wanted them).
Amazon.com as always was great with the price and the delivery.

3 out of 5 stars Ugly and weak sound   May 6, 2010

If you are concerned at all about looks, this is not the sub for you. It looks cheap and the silver-gray color is ugly. Definitely doesn't pass the wife approval rating. As far as sound goes, the sound was ok, but the output was relatively weak. I ended up returning this and getting the Polk PSW10 for less money and love that sub. It looks great, sounds better, and is louder than this one.

5 out of 5 stars good sub for the money   April 16, 2010

first off im redoing both my systems living room and beedroom .this sub was for my bedroom ,it replaces a smaller sony unit.shipping was faster than i expected very fast and it was in good condition when it got there.color was a bit darker than what i expected but that was fine i like the color.the manual that came with it is usefull much better and helpfull than other sub instruction ive seen.there is a good bit of differance between this and the sony sub.you can hear it .i was never happy with the sound of the bedroom system.im using a sony receiver 6.1 110 watts rms pioneer 8 in 3 way mains and pioneer 5 in 2 ways for the back channels and a sony center with dual 5 1/4 drivers.i didnt have a lot of money in it which for a bedroom system is what i wanted.i was considering replacing the mains and i still might but if i do they will be bic america speakers.this sub made a huge differance in the sound .i set the crossover at 80 htz and the bass from it was low and clean much cleaner than the sony.and it stayed that way at higher levels to my suprize.and it seemed to improve the sound of the mains seems they now produce better mid bass and even mid range and the sound stage is wider and cleaner not sure why must have something to do with the sonys cross over or filters not sure which it used in the old sub but i knew it was a starter sub sonys cheapest.but as the bic is new i didnt drive it hard,i think all speakers need a break in period my self and it should only get better with time.ive heard better subs but for 160.00 shipping included its hard to beat.if i upgrade my living room onkyo system it will proballt get the big brother to this one.one thing that seems to make a differance is this is a down firing sub while the sony was front firing .it sits on a tile floor this may have a lot to do with it in my opnion.overall its a fine value for the money and compares very well to subs costing a good bit more .dont expect top preformance but expect very good preformance far surpassing the cost.good tight clean bass.
